About Jack

Central El Paso Native

Jack Loveridge is Central El Paso-born and raised. He attended St. Pius X Catholic School, and is proud graduate of Burges High School. Go Rams! Go Mustangs!

Family First

Jack comes from a family deeply rooted in K-12 education. Jack's mother, the daughter of Mexican immigrants from Guanajuato and Chihuahua, grew up in Segundo Barrio right across Oregon Street from Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In 1985, Jack was baptized at Sacred Heart, just like his mom was in 1945.

Jacks father's family moved from Ashtabula, Ohio to support the White Sands Missile Range. Both of Jack’s parents were educators at local schools, including Magoffin Middle School, St. Pius X, and Austin High School. His aunt, Socorro Esparza Villalobos also taught math at Coronado High School for over thirty years. Jack met his wife Christine, a Chicago native and data scientist, during their time at Stanford in 2006. Today, they proudly call Central El Paso their home.

Educational Achievement

After graduating as Outstanding Citizen and Salutatorian from Burges, Jack went on to earn a B.A. in History with honors from Stanford University in 2007, supported by full financial aid, and received an M.Phil. from Oxford University's Department of International Development in 2009. Jack went on to earn his Ph.D. in History from the University of Texas at Austin in 2017.

While balancing teaching and research, he held prestigious fellowships, including a Fulbright scholarship to India and a doctoral fellowship at Yale's Program in International Security Studies. After completing his doctorate, he taught at Cooper Union and completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University's Weatherhead Center for International Affairs.

Policy Experience

Jack’s professional journey began as a K-12 education policy analyst in Oakland, California from 2009 to 2011, before he returned to Texas for his Ph.D. More recently, he served as a senior advisor to the Paris Peace Forum, focusing on issues related to the international governance of artificial intelligence (AI).

Locally, he has advised the STTE Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on science and technology education and entrepreneurship in the Borderland. After partnerships between STTE and the Trust for the Americas and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Jack now proudly serves on STTE’s Board of Directors.

Local Business Development

In 2021, Jack returned to El Paso and co-founded Panoculum, a digital history startup, with a high school friend. He is currently building his company with a local engineering team, working to support tech entrepreneurship and attract investment to El Paso. By definition, most startups are small businesses — they involve doing big things with very limited resources, building and leading teams, understanding customer needs, and staying on top of an organization's finance and compliance. These are all skills that serve Jack well on the El Paso ISD Board of Trustees.
